So who is waiaung?
Well, full name’s William w. Aung. Born in Burma, and now living in Singapore. Im just another guy who loves art, in many forms, including Photography.

Are you a professional photographer? (I get this question a lot)
Nope. Photography is not my profession. I used to be a graphics/web designer. Now Im teaching full-time at a local polytechnic. I love the teaching career, and that’s what I think I’ll be sticking onto for now.

There are some wedding shots in your gallery, are these commission works?
Those are weddings of my very close friends. I took photographs for their wedding and made them a coffee table book as their wedding gift.

So how about the models?
Most of them are professional models and I paid them for the shoots. Some of the ones in my gallery are my friends or friends’ friends though. So I shoot them for free. Lol.

You’ve shot some people like Andrea Fonseka (former Miss Malaysia), and Allison Kuehn (from America’s Next Top Model). How’d you get to shoot them?
Thru friends who organize model shoots. They’ll email me if there are photo shoots, and I join them sometimes. There are also some forums where you can find organized shoots in Singapore. I join them once in a while as well. But mostly, I stick to the shoots organized by friends.

Do you take commission work?
Photography is purely my hobby. To me, it’s more fun to keep it as that. Once the money gets involved, its no longer that much fun. But if I am close to the person or asked nicely, I always help as much as I can.

How about TFCD/TFP?
Why not? Whenever I can find time! I love to do TFCD/TFP as long as it helps to expand my portfolio.

Do you mainly shoot portraits? There are landscapes from Burma in your gallery as well.
While in Singapore, Im mostly into Portraits. However, when I travel, I shoot a lot landscapes, streets and journalisms. And Burma is such a beautiful country with amazing sceneries. I go back there almost every year.

When did you start shooting?
End 2004. I traveled to U.K and Europe and uploaded my pictures to DeviantART. That was the first exposure I received for my photographs, and also where I received a lot of nice comments and constructive criticism. You can say people here on DA are my inspiration to Photography. All my friends and watchers are really awesome. And I thank you a lot for that.

Whats the gear you use?
Canon EOS 30D. 85mm f/1.8 is my fav lens. But I also have 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 10-22mm Wide Angle and other couple basic lenses. And of course, Adobe Photoshop is a must have for me as well.

What can we expect from you in 2009?
So far, Ive shot professional models most of the time. And now Im trying to have a little more challenge, and maybe shoot less experience models or non-professionals.
