Its hard to pinpoint what moves you when you look at this pic. Its almost coming from a vestigial awe that seems so alien to us now - a social sophistication expressed by profundity instead of progress. Lovely, lovely photo.

I shudder at the thought of what the government did to the monks and their monastery.

With all this going on, i can only think to myself "man, all that military junta needs is a swastika" if you know what i mean

Thanks, but sadly, these monks are killed ruthlessly by a military government in Burma, especially yesterday and the day before it. Please help me spread this message. You can check all these news at CNN, or BBC.

That is a nice photograph. I love the way the red from the robe contrasts from the wall.

I really would like to travel to Burma (actually Myanmar) sometime in the future.

same!

my grandparents lived in burma, but moved over during the second world war.

i've never met (apart from my family and "aunties") another burmese person. it's quite sad.

The picture was taken in Mandalay which was once a city of Burma hundreds of years ago.

wow excellent journalistic photo, great colors too i like the red against the wood, and the detail of the surrounding building contrasting the seemingly plain wardrobe of the individual. EXCELLENT! :+fav: for sure

I'm not really crazy about people photos, but this one is really nice. His position and pose, his environment, the way he is placed in the frame. Very beautiful, and for some reason, leaves me with a sense of nostalgia.
